Meet The Team

At HB Podiatry Group, Steven Swartz, DPM focuses on finding the source of your pain, while providing comprehensive foot care education and the treatment that you both need and deserve. Dr. Swartz has been offering high-level patient care as a skilled podiatrist for almost 40 years.

After graduating from The Ohio State University, he attended the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, and received his degree of Doctor of Podiatric Medicine in 1979.

Dr. Swartz completed his training in Lancaster, California, where he learned new skills and practiced in North Hollywood before moving to Orange County in 1984 where he has practiced ever since.

He has been on staff at several local hospitals over the years but has consolidated his staff privileges to Huntington Beach Hospital where he is Chief of Podiatry, Fountain Valley Regional Hospital (FVRH), and several other outpatient facilities. Dr. Swartz is very active at FVRH, where he is one of the attending physicians that teach the new Podiatry residents the skills of Podiatric Surgery.

Dr. Swartz’s training and experience enable him to thoroughly understand the workings of your feet, ankles, and lower legs. This understanding and the fact that he listens to his patients allows him to effectively diagnose and treat injuries, diseases, and other conditions. He’s skilled in the treatment of arthritis, gout, and issues associated with diabetes, as well as spurs, bunions, and other deformities.

Dr. Swartz lives in Huntington Beach with his wife of 30+ years, has three children, daughter and two sons, and one granddaughter. He enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, sailing and family time.

Dr. David Hellewell attended Weber State University obtaining an associates of science degree. Later transferred to Brigham Young University majoring in psychology.

His interest in service-oriented occupations, desire to be challenged, aptitude for working his hands, and interest in improving patients quality of life on a personal level brought him to Podiatric Medicine.

He attended Podiatric Medical School at Midwestern University in Arizona. He then attended a three-year forefoot rearfoot and ankle surgical residency. His interest in sports medicine led him to a 1 year Sports Medicine Fellowship where he worked with both Plastic Surgeons and Sports Medicine Podiatrists.

His interest in helping those in need lead to a medical mission to San Blas, Mexico where he thoroughly enjoyed helping children with club feet and other foot and ankle related conditions. His non academic interests include surfing, wakeboarding, jiu-jitsu, rock climbing, running on the beach, making sandcastles with his children, anything beach related, and spending time with his family and two children.
